City receives $500,000 for Emma Webb Park renovations

Governor Roy Cooper announced the N.C. Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) will award over $17 million in grants to fund 39 local parks and recreation projects across the state. The maximum award for any grant is $500,000, and I am delighted to learn that the City of Kinston will be receiving a $500,000 grant to go towards renovations at Emma Webb Park!

Emma Webb Park is an important fixture of the Kinston community, and is right in the center of our city. One of my proudest accomplishments has been steering the development and adoption of the Emma Webb Park Master Plan, and now seeing that plan start to come into fruition.

In addition to the money from the PARTF Grant, the City Council has allocated $500,000 from our American Rescue Plan funds to match the state’s contribution. Improvements are coming soon to one of Kinston’s most treasured parks!
